Soft, white blossoms floating in a sea of leaves. I collaged on thin pieces of rice paper around the flowers to add interest and texture to the background. When I came back in to reinforce the darks, the paint reacted in unpredictable ways on and around the areas with rice paper. Combining collage with watercolor provides endless possibilities for creativity.

This painting is a combination of watercolor and collage. I painted wet on wet and then added definition to the flowers when everything was dry. Small print was stamped on thin rice paper before gluing it to the paper for added interest and texture.

This painting began as a class demo for painting roses. I later came back to it and decided to experiment and used bubble wrap to stamp some texture in the background with green watercolor and randomly collaged on some very thin pieces of rice paper. I then used white gesso on a stamp with musical notes and one with the word 'love' to add some fun to the composition.

Geranium Morning started out with small pieces of colored tissue collaged on illustration board. I then used acrylics to paint the pots, flowers and leaves. A little more collage and some gesso to negative paint the background and I had a totally different piece than my normal watercolors.
